Planning & Incentives

The best way to find out whether your location can benefit from renewable energy is to schedule a site assessment with a certified site assessor.

Site Assessments provide objective, third-party recommendations for your specific location.

Feasibility Studies provide financial support for site evaluations that go more in-depth than site assessments (which are the recommended first step) to determine whether renewable energy systems are right for you. The study is intended to increase the ability of businesses and organizations to make informed decisions about large, often complex renewable energy systems by understanding and solving technical uncertainties. The USDA has many programs to assist farmers, rural residents, and the nation to respond to energy-related issues and opportunities. Visit the US Department of Agriculture to see if they are offering grant opportunities for feasibility studies

Development Grants provide financial support for assessing the feasibility and development activities of large, customer-sited solar pv or wind turbine projects of between 100 kilowatts and 15 megawatts. These grants co-fund complex feasibility studies, environmental permitting, financing and other developmental activities.
